About Me

I am a 28 year old first time mommy to a beautiful, smart, and happy little girl named Scout, born April 2007. I've been married to my hot computer nerd drummer (known as DH around here) for 7 years and have a wonderful life with him. Man, I love that guy. I feel super blessed to be able to stay home and take care of our kiddo while he brings home the bacon.

I love to sing. LOVE it. It's my favorite thing to do in the whole world...well, besides being a wife and mommy. Luckily, I don't have to choose because I can sing AND be a wife and mommy all at the same time. I also play a little bit o' guitar. I'm no Yngwie Malmsteen, but I know enough to get me by in the song writing department, which is alright by me. Now that is a little tougher to do while being a wife and mommy because some little blonde-headed munchkin inevitably ends up banging on the strings while sticking crayons and hair clips in the sound hole of the guitar whenever I sit down to play. My budding musician.

I'm interested in aspects of natural parenting, although we probably aren't the most natural family you've ever seen. (as evident by our occasional trips to Krispie Kreme and scads of cheap plastic toys covering our living room floor) We cloth diapered for 8 months and enjoyed it. Our little girl was exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of life and is still nursing at a year and a half. I try to feed her whole, nutritious foods most of the time. She was worn in an Ergo or a ring sling for the first year of her life (and still does ride in them occasionally). I do my best to give her tons of freedom to explore the world around her while giving her safe boundaries. She is almost always allowed to get as dirty as she wants. I believe in letting her splash around in mud puddles when it rains if the mood strikes her. I think that kids were made to get dirty.

I live 900 miles from my entire family because I moved to DH's hometown 9 months after meeting him on the internet. We met through Yahoo Personals. Yeah. We're classy like that. We got married 6 months after I moved here. (Where's "here"? I suppose you'll have to keep guessing)I miss my family a ton, but this is where home is. We have a great church family here and feel like this is where we're needed the most.

I guess that's me in a nutshell. A big nutshell, that holds a lot of words.
